This rambling Ranch-style was very well built and well preserved. The intent of this design/build remodel was to modernize the master suite to increase functionality without compromising the 1940’s style. We created a plan that utilized but relocated the existing doors and kept the window placements. New hardwood floors were matched to the originals. The original brass door hardware was restored and reused. The plastic electrical trim was restored to solid brass throughout the house. The original elegant light fixtures were recycled in new locations. The interior designer picked tile and paint combinations in sophisticated timeless palettes, making it difficult to deduce their new vintage. The result is a house that works for today’s lifestyle even though it looks like a perfectly preserved 1940 Rancher.
